		<description>This is a very useful guide for the "newbie" but it is important to point out that it is based on the situation in the USA, other countries differ quite extensively in the detail but often the basic principles are similar. 

In UK we have Sole Trader, Partnership, Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), Private Limited Company (Ltd) and Public Limited Company (Plc). The tax treatment and liability situation for most of these are different to that mentioned above.

I'll get back to you in a few days with a more detailed explanation for the benefit of UK members - unless Simon or someone beats me to it! :-)
